In most countries, there is no legal minimum age for ear piercing. Minors (in Belgium: >18 years, in the Netherlands: >16 years) must bring a consent form signed by a parent or guardian. For minors (<) 16 years old, a parent or guardian must also be present during the ear piercing. Adults (>18) must also sign a consent form before having an ear piercing.From a medical point of view, age plays no role in ear piercing, as the German association of ENT doctors (Deutscher Berufsverband der Hals-Nasen-Ohren-Ärzte) states, “From a medical point of view, it does not matter at all whether the ear is pierced as a child or later.” Michael Deeg of the association of ENT doctors in Freiburg, Germany, states, “The ear lobe is equally suitable for piercing an ear hole at any age.” According to the expert, the pain experience in children was not higher than in adults. The aftercare instructions below will help you promote the healing process and prevent any complications.Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching the earring or ear.After the first 24 hours, apply the STUDEX® aftercare product to the front and back of the ear hole twice a day, without removing the earring. Gently push the earring forward and backward while applying the aftercare product.In the meantime, keep the area around the earring dry.
Yes, of course. Occasionally we hear from clients that they were told that it was not a good idea to get ear holes pierced in the winter. However, we don't know where this myth comes from. In fact, it is not correct at all. In fact, ear holes can be pierced all year round. The cold can even be pleasant when ear holes are newly pierced. Of course, it is a good idea to be a little careful when wearing hats, scarves, or sweaters with a roll neck.
Newly pierced ear holes would grow back closed if the earrings are taken off. Therefore, earrings should be worn continuously for at least 6 weeks. When using STUDEX® Advanced, the pierced earring can be replaced after only 3 weeks. It takes up to 6 months until the ear holes are fully healed. Once the ear holes are fully healed, they cannot grow closed. The inside of the piercing canal is covered with skin, closing the “wound” created by the piercing. Sometimes, however, it may appear that the ear hole has grown shut, because healed ear holes usually secrete sebum when earrings are not worn for a while.
